A Seasonal Approach to Creative Practice
The Creative Nook offers gentle, season-inspired creative workshops focused on wellbeing rather than artistic skill.
Workshops are small, calm, and welcoming - designed especially for beginners and those seeking a slower, more meaningful creative experience. Each workshop provides materials to complete a project, allowing skills and confidence to build gradually. If you don't finish it by the end of the workshop, you can finish at home or at one of our Creative Playdates.

What Are The Core Skills You Will Learn?
At The Creative Nook, our workshops are rooted in four gentle creative practices: Slow Stitching & Textile Art, Creative Journaling, Memory Keepsakes and Mixed Media. Each one offers a different way to slow down, work with your hands and reconnect with your creativity. You might stitch with soft fabrics and threads, build layered journal pages, create small keepsakes to hold memories, or explore paper, paint, texture and found materials in a more playful way. All four practices are beginner-friendly, seasonal and designed to help you make calmly, without pressure or expectation.

Slow Stitching & Textile Art
A slow, absorbing practice using layered fabrics, simple hand stitches, and considered colour combinations. Each workshop introduces a new project, with time to settle into the making and develop your piece at your own pace.

Each workshop also stands alone. If you can only join once, you'll leave with the foundations and confidence to continue stitching at home.

Suitable for beginners and returning stitchers.

Creative Journaling
A multi-sensory practice combining paper, nature, and reflection. In our workshops, you'll explore collage, simple mark-making, and gentle mixed-media techniques to build layered, personal journal pages, with thoughtful attention to colour and the quiet pleasure of making marks by hand.

Journaling in this way is both calming and healing, a slow creative ritual that asks nothing of you except presence. Each workshop stands alone, and everything you learn can be carried into a practice at home.

Suitable for beginners and those returning to creative practice.

Memory Keepsake
Memory Keepsakes uses simple materials and the art of noticing. Across the year, we'll create small, meaningful pieces designed to hold special memories and mark the passing of time. For example, memory cards are personal, layered and decorated cards that capture a moment in time... a month, an event, a person, anything you want.

They make beautiful keepsakes; something to keep close, or to give to someone who matters.

Suitable for beginners and returning makers.

Mixed Media
A gentle, exploratory practice bringing together paper, fabric, paint, stitch, botanicals and found textures. Mixed media gives you permission to play with layers, marks and materials without needing everything to be planned or perfect.

Across seasonal workshops, we’ll explore simple techniques such as collage, mark-making, painted papers, woven paper, textile layering and natural textures. Each piece develops slowly and intuitively, giving you space to notice what you’re drawn to and build confidence as you create.

Suitable for beginners and returning makers.
